Greetings ship mates.

Enclosed in this missive are the minutes from the AGM in Bournemouth. News on the Pangbourne front is that it looks like I have secured 7 or 8 tickets. Our Association Standard will be proudly displayed at this event. I will have to hold a quick lottery for the tickets as we are over subscribed for the event. I will contact the individuals concerned in the very near future. Tickets for the London event are as I said before, down to individual applicants, I have had my application acknowledged as successful. Have you had yours? Details for the event in Gosport are as posted on the relevant website. I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on the after event booze up in St James Park on Sunday17th June, as details for this are strangely absent from any website!!

Since our last newsletter it has come to light that as an Association we need to give thought to an entertainment budget for reunions. So this will be an agenda item at the meeting in Liverpool. Do you want to apportion funds to the committee to use to provide entertainment at your reunions? If so how much and what type of entertainment? This came about as we had an opportunity for Shep Wooley to perform at Liverpool. After much debate, your committee decided we didn’t have the required sanction from the membership to spend your money. Sponsorship for theses things is also a possibility so please have a think about how you feel about the funds the association holds and if/what we should be spending them on. The tot being an obvious one but we believe that item was put to bed last year.

On a personal note, I am thinking of obtaining, from my own funds, a job lot of Falklands 25 commemorative medals. These are available already from the Falklands 25 website at £15 a pop. My intention is to have the silk lined box they come in personalised to include the HMS Antrim crest and number. I would then sell them at £10 plus p&p to anyone who wanted them. Any profits I make I am willing to donate to the Association funds. If I sell the lot, this could add a few hundred quid to the coffers. If I don’t I will be skint and take up a job in scrap metal! Any members who are interested in this proposal feel free to contact me so I can see if the demand is enough for me to go ahead. Finally, a recent check at the Adelphi had 22 rooms still left for the Antrim reunion in October this year. So if you haven’t already booked, go ahead and do so before it’s too late. Remember we have a package deal for those rooms at a good price. After they have gone I am sure you would still get a room, BUT not on the same deal.

I now enclose an email received from Tiny via the website. Contents are self explanatory.

“Hi. I work in MoD PR and we’re looking for volunteers to tell their story of life in the South Atlantic in ’82 to the Media.  We’re specifically after “human interest” type tales because, quite frankly, the historical elements of the campaign have been all detailed. If you have anyone who’d be willing to chat to the radio, TV and/or papers please could you get them to contact me, either by e-mail of by telephone. Thanks ever-so, Ken Entincknap Commander RN .DGMC-DEF PR (Navy) Level 1, Zone A. Ministry of Defence London. I look forward to seeing the crew from ’82 at the forthcoming events this year and of course to the next reunion.

Till then, take care all.

 Yours aye. Stu Pennock
