Hi,
My name is John. I am an x-Canadian sailor who met a member of the Antrim's crew in 1984 at a bar in Lisbon, Portugal. He was an Electronic Warfare operator, the same trade I was.  We exchanged Zippo lighters, from our respected ships at the time, and iI still have mine. I can not remember his name and was wondering if there was any way to find out any information about him. He was in the Falkland Island conflict.

Like the improved website content.   Just subscribed to e-newsletter.   Keep up the good work.   Phil.

My father was in the South African Navy and I met Tom Finney in the early 70’s when the HMS Antrim docked at Simon’s Town, South Africa.  Does anyone still have contact with him?

Can you tell me if HMS Antrim visited Cagliari, Sardinia in 1974-1975

the harbour, Charybdis, Antrim?, Leander? and I had dinner on the Iranian
frigate IIS Rostam. Thanks.

Fellas,

Just browsing and reminiscing and came across the site, dunno if you remember me, Kevin Morby AB Gunner, joined from Pompey field gun in 78 and left for civvy street in 79, Remember Dave Leen / John Bowen were all from the same estate here in the Boro [Middlesbrough] other names spring to mind. George O'Donnell , slugger storey boxer. we had a wicked football team with CPTI robson I believe he was also a native of the Boro. I returned just days after you got back from Falklands as Boro were away to Pompey and there was still a few old faces. anyway just thought I'd chip in with some useless info.

Hi,
I was on the Antrim in 75 and we done test firings on the Exocet off Fisgard before our Med Deployment, but I only just joined it before sailing so couldnt say for definite if it was just fitted before sailing, but i dont think it was far off that date.
Also I have a Deployment book in my possesion for Antrim from our 1975 Med Jolly if you are interested in borrowing it and also a few pics of the Silver Jubilee fleet review along with a few more photos of various times on the ship.

  • Hi, Found the Antrim websight whilst doing a web search at work for the Bomb Alley book. Antrim was my last ship before RDP and civvy street way back in 83. Have enclosed a few pics that I found whilst Antrim was the Windies Guard ship 1983, can remember Stu Bartlett but none of the others names now, the pic of the six around a car is from Key West when we hired it crashed it done a runner got caught in the morning just before sailing and then had to buy it from the owner. Be great to hear from anyone that remembers me or any of the others in the pics or maybe see themselves in the pics. We were all from the Gunners mess apart from the Booty and the blonde guy in front of the 4.5 gun who I think if my memory serves me right was a PO Gunner.
  • Cheers Danny Bundock A/B(M)

1. Hi,
Just wondered about Darky the cartoonist! AB Stewart I Believe.
Had a great laugh at his ability to have a legal "POP" when I served on HMS Antrim as a Pongo during its Med Exercise with the American 6th Fleet, about 1972 I think.
Joined at Portsmouth and left at Malta before it sailed to Istanbul.
Great experience with great guys, maybe some will remember me. Cpl "Digger" Reid, my team Lcpl Dixon, Rgr Moore, Rgr Ellis.

2. This 'Tankard', was presented by The Cheifies mess 1971??  Who remembers why???? Where & when..and more importantly.. what for ?
